Charlie Productions : Composer
In our time we have had no end of composers' CDs sent to us. This is no bad thing, even if it only serves to remind us how many times people give CDs of 'mood music', which usually comes down to "forgettable tuneless waffle made on a synthesizer". Thankfully we've come across several composers who can do magical things with music that we're still struggling to put into words.
There is something quite wonderful about music that works with a film, adding to the story without drowning any of the other elements out. It sets the pulse racing and it's a great feeling to recut a film to music specifically recorded for that project. Composers are brought in quite late a lot of the time, with the picture already cut, and yet they add so much it's hard to see why people think that's a good idea. We try to make our composers involved from the start. Well, not always, as "Anything Goes" will testify... hmm...
