Charlie Productions : Producer
Being a film producer can be a pretty thankless task. On the whole you only ever notice what a producer does when they've not done it and their successes are usually hidden beneath the triumphs of others. A film may be memorable for a great story, great performances, beautiful photography, amazing special effects or even a stunning musical score but few people will walk away from a cinema shaking their heads in admiration muttering "What great producing..."
However the cold truth is that whilst individually these triumphs are those of writers, actors, directors, cameramen, the Weta Workshop and John Barry, these people were only ever able to achieve what they have because of the producer. Producers are the silent hands that move the pieces round the board, they are the ground in which we grow and the sky out of which we fall.
The downside of being a producer is that, on the whole, instead of the general recognition and adulation of the public you have to make do with their ticket receipts. This is also the upside.
