Charlie Productions : Production DepartmentThe peeps in the production department are both the most powerful folk on the shoot and the most put-upon. With the purse strings firmly within their grasp, they get to say what gets to happen - except of course mainly this works by trying to make what happens be exactly what everyone would like it to be, as long as it is in budget and on time. Schedules and budgets are what we think mostly of when you think production, but the head honcho here is about a hell of a lot more than that. For the producer is the film's head cheerleader, exciting cast, cash and crew enough for them to want to be involved and to stay involved. And the film's guiding light, making sure it ends up being all it can be. And the director's protector, ensuring that we get to play while they take the flak - which means a better film at the end of the day. It's a frightfully hard job, production. All of it. Which is why we love 'em... Charlie Productions believe passionately in doing things and always trying to stop in time for tea.
