Charlie Productions : Script Supervisor
The Script Supervisor helps with timing and continuity, writing reports on the performance of each take and keeping a hold of the director's brains via the medium of notes and script. As a director it is seemingly impossible to keep a hold of any form of paperwork, so it's hard to underestimate even this part of the Script Supervisor's job.
But this is a minor part - for the Script Supervisor helps define the pace and rhythm of the film by timing each and every take, and helps make sure that each take is useable by keeping a check of the continuity - actors making the same moves in each take, props still looking the same (always a pain with any sort of consumable such as food or drink). And the Script Supervisor's reports are passed on into post-production and to the execs, showing each and every day just how the shoot is going.
