Charlie Productions : 2nd Assistant Director

The 2nd AD doesn't spend so much time on the set - a lot of their experience of that side of the shoot comes from the constant communication they have with the 1st AD via walkie-talkies.

So what's the 2nd AD actually doing? Firstly, they're marshalling the actors through make-up and costume, ensuring that they are ready to go as soon as the camera and lighting is set. And secondly they write the callsheets for each and every day, which tell absolutely everyone on the shoot when and where they are supposed to be the next day, and for how long. Rather integral, then.
