Charlie Productions : Boom OperatorThe Boom Operator needs strong arms. Day after day they hold the mic above the actors heads on a very long pole, so as to not get it in shot. It's quite a skilful job too - you need to know the script really well so you can anticipate switching the mic direction from one actor to the next before they say their next line, often while walking backwards at pace, trying to keep ahead of them, with the mic still perfectly placed, ie. as close as possible to the actor without actually being in shot. Charlie Productions believe passionately in doing things and always trying to stop in time for tea.
