Charlie Productions : Writer
Film is a director's medium, we are often told. And yet the director is effectively helping bring definition to what the writer has already crafted in the script. When it comes to writer/directors like ourselves, it's easy to think of us as directors first, but that discounts the huge amounts of time we spend actually trying to get the script right, long before we get anywhere near a set or a camera.
Writing is both a painful and a joyful time. Despite spending hours sitting in comfy chairs, we actually lose weight when we write - because our brains are working at full-pelt, trying to figure out the solutions to the problems that inevitably come up as we make our way through each new story. Despite the pain of clockwork wheels clicking round, it's actually rather a brilliant place to be - after all, we're getting to spend weeks in worlds of our own creation.
Not that we want to rely on only our own pens - well, keyboards. Despite starting out by writing all the films we've made, we love collaborating and have started to meet some supremely talented writers, who we are hoping we will get to work with very soon...
