Two Times

Watch The Film

2008, 3mins, DV Cam.

Thomas Adkins was chosen as a winner of the Branchage Boot Camp 2008, a week-long mentored film-making scheme taking place within the inaugural Branchage Jersey International Film Festival. Sponsored by Channel TV, Thomas worked alongside professionals including his mentor Chris Blaine, one half of the award-winning Blaine brothers, to produce the film.

Produced and Edited by Chris Blaine this brutally honest short biographical film follows Thomas as he tries to adapt from city life to the rural settings of Guernsey. A task in itself but coupled with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder the challenge is far greater. Thomas Adkins allows us to hear his thoughts on his strenuous battle and expands on the intricacies of OCD.

Thomas comes from a creative family, his Gramps was a printer/artist, his Grandma was a painter/artist and his Father is a Graphic Designer:

"I have been surrounded by this skill all my life. I decided to do a ND in graphic design at North Oxfordshire College, followed by a HND in graphics and photography there too. Towards the end of my third year in college I began to answer my design briefs in film. Loving the 'fear' and 'joy' of making amateur films I began to shoot everything and anything with my brother and friends. We even had some luck with a five minute slot on the extreme channel in 2003 for our comedy show called 'Farout' which you can see on my website.

After this I decided to study film and creative writing at Uni at Buckinghamshire chilters in 2004. I came out with a degree and some very strong short films like, 'And, And Myself', and 'Poem'. Since then I have worked on live concerts as a camerman/runner and have also won the Jersey International film festival with '2X'. I am now living in London making contacts and trying to get my foot in the door to work my way up this hard but exciting ladder, which they call the film world."
