Laura Brocken was chosen as a winner of the Branchage Boot Camp 2008, a week-long mentored film-making scheme taking place within the inaugural Branchage Jersey International Film Festival. Sponsored by Channel TV, Laura worked alongside professionals including her mentor Chris Blaine, one half of the award-winning Blaine brothers, to produce the film.

Produced and Edited by Chris Blaine this stark and honest short biographical film allows the audience to lean in closer and listen to one woman's thoughts and fears before swiftly distancing them from her further.

Born in Jersey in the Channel Islands, Laura (26) first found interest in film and television when she repeatedly watched E.T. as a child. Her love for cinema, storytelling and salted popcorn developed further when she received her first digital camera at the age of 14 and culminated in her attending the University of Lincoln in England to study Media Production. Whilst at University she completed work experience with CBBC in London and TV3 in Dublin and after graduating flew to the USA to attend the New York Film Academy. Whilst living in the big apple for a year she directed a number of short films, crewed many others and gained a Diploma in Advanced Filmmaking and Directing.

She returned to Jersey with the intention of saving money to leave and pursue a career in Film but was spotted at a BBC Talent day and was offered a job as a Broadcast Journalist with the local news output -BBC Spotlight. Since leaving the BBC she has made a number of short films including 'Tell' as part of the Branchage Film Festival.
